Preparing for Surgery
A successful procedure starts with proper preparation. This page outlines what you need to know and do in the days leading up to your surgery so you feel informed, ready, and confident when you arrive.

What to Bring
- Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you to the center, to stay with you at the center during your surgery and drive you home when discharged.
- Wear comfortable casual clothing (no pantyhose) and low-heeled shoes. Remove all makeup and fingernail polish, acrylics, and gels.
- Remove all body piercings prior to arrival at the surgery center.
- Bring insurance card, driver’s license/I.D., and method of payment for insurance co-payments and deductible (if applicable for your procedure). We accept cash, credit card or personal check.
- Be sure to bring glasses and hearing aids, but please remove contact lenses.
- Please leave all valuables and jewelry at home. We are not responsible for lost items.
Before Your Surgery
Pre-Admission Testing
Lab work, x-rays, and EKGs may be needed prior to your surgery. Your surgeon will give you further details if necessary.
Confirmation
A member of our clinical team will call you before your surgery to confirm your appointment, review your medical history, provide any special instructions, and answer any questions you may have. During this call, we’ll also verify your insurance, confirm authorization, and let you know about any co-payments or deductibles due prior to your procedure.
Cancellation Policy
Contact your doctor and the surgery center immediately if, for any reason, you cannot keep your scheduled surgery appointment—including issues with transportation, suspected pregnancy, or changes in your health such as a cough, fever, or cold.
24 Hours Before Your Surgery
Call your physician immediately if you notice a change in your health between the time you see your surgeon and the day of your procedure.
Diet
Special instructions will be communicated with Ophthalmology and Pediatric Patients.
- Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your surgery or on the day of your procedure, or your surgery will be canceled. Any exceptions—such as medications for the heart, lungs, or diabetes—will be explained by our clinical staff.
- Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to your surgery.
- Do not smoke for at least 12 hours before and after your surgery.

The Day of Your Surgery
When You Arrive
Report to the receptionist at your scheduled arrival time. This time may be two hours prior to your surgery time.
After You Register
Once registered, you will be taken to the pre-operative area where your vital signs will be assessed. If you require sedation or general anesthesia, an anesthesiologist will meet with you to discuss and arrange your anesthesia care.
